DisneyBand+ Expanding to the Disney Dream Starting November 20, 2023

disney cruise line magic band

I highly recommend assessing beforehand if purchasing a DisneyBand+ is a must for you or not. These bands are definitely not necessary for a Disney cruise; they are only meant to enhance your experience onboard. Something fun and unexpected that we discovered during our cruise onboard the Disney Fantasy was that whenever we clapped during a show or entertainment the DisneyBand+ would light up and change colors. You'll want to make sure it's always charged and ready to go, so you do not miss any of these experiences. Perhaps the most popular designs we saw onboard were the two exclusive DisneyBand+ designs that guests can purchase prior to their cruise.

How to get a DisneyBand+

Your Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort MagicBand+ can be used as a DisneyBand+ during select Disney Cruise Line sailings. Following the preview that is taking place on the Disney Wish, DisneyBand+ will begin to make its way to select sailings aboard other Disney Cruise Line ships. For exclusive and unique designs, guests could look at paying $50 or more. I will be honest, at first I was skeptical if I would like the DisneyBand+. At first glance, it appears that these bands do not have many features and are a rather pricey alternative to the complimentary keycard that is given to all guests once onboard. For a family of four, the cost of purchasing a DisneyBand+ for everyone in the family will add up quickly.

What cruise ships will you be able to use Disney MagicBands on?

disney cruise line magic band

Officially, you can have multiple DisneyBands or cards linked to your Disney account, you can continue to use as many as your wrists and pockets can carry. However, getting multiple DisneyBands or cards does not give you multiple entitlements, such as additional park admission. Also, once a DisneyBand+ is linked to a person, it cannot be transferred to another person. Disney Cruise Line has announced the release of the DisneyBand+ wearable technology in Summer 2023 for DCL’s 25th Anniversary. This post covers everything you need to know about this interactive enhancement. When it comes to deciding if a DisneyBand+ is right for you and your travel companions onboard a Disney cruise, I would take into consideration several factors.

Is DisneyBand+ rechargeable?

The menus here are curated by chef Scott Hunnel from Walt Disney World's Victoria & Albert's and chef Arnaud Lallement. The dinner menu is similar to that of Palo on the other Disney ships, with a prix-fixe dinner starting at $50 and an a la carte option. The a la carte menu emphasizes steaks, with American prime cuts, Australian wagyu and Japanese Kobe and Miyazaki beef you can pair with one of five sauces. If you ask, you can also get a sauce flight to try all of the options with your steak. Dinner at the restaurant can be done as an a la carte meal where you pay for each item or a set cost prix-fixe menu for $50.

From what we can tell, these are MagicBands by another name and will debut first as a preview on Disney Wish this summer and later make their way on additional ships and sailings. This wearable DisneyBand+ can be used when getting on the ship, unlocking your cabin door, charging purchases, tapping to get your photos synced to your account by the ship photographers and more. Once DisneyBand+ has debuted on the Disney Wish, you can order a DisneyBand+ by visiting My Reservations between 11 and 45 days of your sail date, if your reservation is paid in full. If you would like to customize your DisneyBand+ with your name and an available color before your sailing, you must do so at least 11 days before your voyage, after reserving your stateroom. When you customize your DisneyBand+, the printed name will appear on the inside of the band.

Unofficially, you cannot have an unlimited number of linked bands and also a working My Disney Experience account. I once had over 100 bands, room keys, and tickets attached to my account, and it got so bogged down that trying to do anything would cause the system to time out or crash. I had to have them manually removed from my account (deactivating them wasn’t good enough). However, shipping of DisneyBand+ is only available to US residents with a valid US address. Shipping is available to valid US addresses (including US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) only; shipping is not available to PO Boxes, APO, FPO, DPO, United States ports, or international addresses. If you would like to customize and edit the colors a DisneyBand+ lights up, this can be done through the Disney World app.

Tips and tricks to DisneyBand+

On some of the ships, you’ll also need your Key to the World card inserted in the slot to operate the lights in your stateroom. While MagicBands have been around for a while, the DisneyBand+ (the Disney Cruise Line version of the Magicband) is relatively new. It’s currently available on sailings on the Disney Magic, the Disney Wish, the Disney Dream, and the Disney Fantasy. If you’ve been to the Disney parks in the United States, you may already be familiar with the concept of the MagicBand.

Parks & Destinations

The restaurant is themed after the Disney animated movie "The Princess and the Frog," with a menu that highlights Creole and Cajun cooking. While enjoying your dinner, you'll also be entertained by a live jazz band playing songs from the movie and other instrumental melodies. The dining room is also open for breakfast and lunch for table service meals in a beautiful atmosphere. The breakfast menu is the standard fare, though do look out for the pastry plate that is walked around by a server and try one of the sweet cinnamon rolls. Located just off the Grand Hall, 1923 also offers a waiter-served breakfast and lunch every sailing day. Menus for both can be seen on the Disney Cruise Line app or by asking a crew member at the restaurant.

Hands-free fun: Disney Cruise Line introducing wearable DisneyBand+ this summer

The art deco-style restaurant is themed after "The Little Mermaid," with a mural of Ariel and King Triton, plus a bronze statue of Ariel just outside the restaurant. Breakfast is fairly basic with traditional morning options, but it's always nice to be served rather than fight others at the buffet line. Lunch is a three-course meal where the menu changes daily, so be sure to check the cruise line app for the most up-to-date menus once you board the ship. The fine dining option for rotational dining on Disney Fantasy is Royal Court. For breakfast, try one of the made-to-order omelets or Mickey-shaped waffles, all served by a team of helpful waiters and waitresses. Then, for lunch, menus feature soups, sandwiches, full entrees and desserts over three courses.

For Guests outside the United States, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, DisneyBand+ will be available for purchase at select onboard merchandise locations (subject to availability). United States residents can visit Bands & More to select and purchase their bands. When you customize your DisneyBand+, you’ll be asked to provide a valid US shipping address.

Be sure to ask for a seat near a window because the views are usually incredible. For the first time, the MagicBands that have been popular fixtures at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort for the last ten years are heading to Disney Cruises, and they’ll be known as DisneyBand+. Until now, guests aboard Disney cruise ships have used Disney’s “Key to the World” card to open the door to their cabins. DisneyBand+ is a huge upgrade from the plastic card, that is often worn around the neck on a clunky lanyard. DisneyBand+ is expected to begin appearing on select Disney cruises as early as this summer.

The MagicBand+ you already use at Disney World or Disneyland will work on the ship, too. And conversely, if you want some of the cruise-specific looks, then your DisneyBand+ will work in the parks. This is great news, given that the cost of the bands does add up when you start buying for the whole family.

Breakfast and lunch are both open seating, so you don't have to wait for a certain time or your assigned dinner table to be open to enjoy a meal. Our Disney cruise food guide has all you need to know about dining options across the cruise line's fleet, including where to find them and whether they cost extra or are included in your fare. We also answer some of the most popular questions about dining and food on Disney Cruise Line.

The exceptions are alcoholic drinks, canned sodas from bars, bottled water and smoothies, which are purchased individually and charged to your folio. Outside on the pool deck of Disney Magic, Duck-In Diner dishes out lunch and snacks to hungry cruisers. The menu here is a fun mix of American favorites like burgers and dogs, plus Middle Eastern-inspired shawarma wrapped in a warm pita. I love the shawarma because you can see it rotating on a vertical spit right behind the counter and load up your sandwich with your favorite toppings. Cabanas is Disney's buffet on its older ships, with 10 food stations in a beach-themed space. For breakfast, you can get everything from eggs and hash browns to Mickey-shaped waffles and fruit.

A Royal hostess and pastry chef tell stories, dance and sing with the group before welcoming in a few Disney princesses. Each child will receive an assortment of gifts as a keepsake after the event. While the classic chocolate souffle is available, the carrot cake with lemon cream cheese frosting is an exquisite end to a meal. Brunch starts with a glass of prosecco or a mimosa, then your choice of antipasti plates. I suggest taking a few people with you to brunch so you can try a few of the dishes on the menu, though one not to miss is the chicken Parmesan that's served with risotto.

Faster to the Fun on Carnival Cruises

carnival cruise faster to the fun

The new Past Guest program's effective date was June 25th, 2012, with the Carnival Breeze ship making an exception (its effective date was July 9). Just as the name suggests, this package sold as an excursion by the cruise line lets you get to all the fun before or almost before everyone else. Now that might not seem like a big deal, considering you are not in a competition or anything. You'll have a dedicated phone number and line at Guest Services so you can quickly have your questions answered.

Always Get to the Shore First

If your group is sailing in more than one cabin, one person from each room needs to buy Faster to the Fun for everyone to benefit from it. If you really want to purchase this program, buy it as soon as you can. Faster to the Fun often sells out very quickly on Carnival cruises. Dedicated Guest Services Phone Line and Line at DeskWithout a doubt, you’ll find a reason (or three!) to have to go to Guest Services during your cruise. From questions about charges, how to book dinner reservations, or anything else under the sun, Guest Services come in handy during your trip. If you have a tender-port intensive itinerary then yes,  the FTTF is well worth the money in that case.

Carnival Cruise Line Bringing Back Popular Priority Program

There’s almost always a long queue – especially on the first day and last day of a cruise. With Faster To The Fun, your bags get special treatment and will be expedited to your stateroom earlier than normal and in plenty of time for dinner. While every cruiser has to decide which programs are best suited to their vacation needs, Faster to the Fun is a great option to make the most of every Carnival cruise. For this reason, the debarkation process is long, as thousands of passengers try to leave the ship simultaneously.

Things I Loved About Celebrity’s Sky Suite & What You Should Know

Note, however, you only board second after the diamond and platinum VIFP members. These are loyal Carnival cruisers who have earned loyalty points over the years of cruising with the cruise line. But when your cruise is over, you may choose an early or late debarkation time upon arrival to your homeport.

Is Carnival’s Faster To The Fun Worth The Price? Read on!

If you are on a cruise itinerary that includes tender ports, this can be a biggie! Everyone wants to get off the ship at once, and LONG queues form for the numbered tender tickets. The purchase window for certain products and activities closes before to the sail end date.

carnival cruise faster to the fun

When purchasing FTTF, remember that only one person per stateroom is required to buy the package. Once purchased, all guests sharing the same cabin will enjoy the FTTF benefits. The streamlined process ensures everyone in your party experiences the same elevated service from the get-go. Faster to the Fun passengers have a dedicated check-in lane and security set aside for all Priority guests. FTTF guests board after VIFP Diamond, Platinum, and guests who book deluxe suite accommodations on embarkation day. Carnival’s Faster to the Fun (FTTF) program is designed to elevate your cruising experience.

The cruise industry seems to thrive in finding additional premium add-ons like these to try and squeeze a few more cruise dollars out of us. One of the things I personally really like about this is that the FTTF price is NOT PER PERSON, but is instead priced PER CABIN. If you are keen to ensure you get a specific early or late dining slot, FTTF holders will get priority in the queue when allocating those slots. Be aware though that this does not extend to specific Your Time Dining slots.

As you can see, Faster to the Fun focuses primarily on helping you avoid the lines and crowds that can often slow down your trip. If you are not a Platinum or Diamond VIFP member and want a taste of some of the perks these cardholders benefit from then yes, it could be right for you. The scenario where I did purchase it was on a tender-intensive itinerary. If you are more of a frugal cruise like me, then you probably look at things like this and say “what are they trying to nickel and dime out of me now!

Why the Program Was Suspended

It mostly depends on your travel style and your particular itinerary. The priority customer service line also gets high praise as some issue invariably comes up and lines can be long. FTTF is a good choice for families with young kids who don't handle queues well or might need an afternoon nap in the cabin, as well as anyone who wants to maximize their time onboard. Remember, you will wait all this time while dragging your carry on bags along with you. It guarantees you direct access to your stateroom the moment you board the cruise ship.

It's considered a package, so you'll find the upgrade option under the In-Room Gifts & Shopping tab, listed as Faster to the Fun. Click on your cruise ship departure port to check prices and availability. All good things must eventually transition to the next great thing. With FTTF, you choose your debarkation time early or late on the final day.

The problem is that there can be thousands of other passengers on your trip with their own issues. That means lines at Guest Services can be tremendously long — especially at the start of the cruise and right before it ends. Having a dedicated line can help you get your questions answered much faster — without wasting your cruise waiting in a line.

It’s important to note that you will share this benefit with VIFP Diamond and Platinum guests. Whether you want to book dinner reservations, need directions, clarification on billing, or anything else cruise-related, Guest Services is there to help. No matter your question or concern, you are bound to be in need of Guest Services eventually. Unfortunately, everyone needing assistance is an automatic recipe for never-ending lines. With “Faster to the Fun” you will receive a priority telephone number to reach the desk, as well as a dedicated line at the desk. “The Key” members can receive an a la carte breakfast on their last day.

Huatulco is a really small town with a population of around 50,000, but it is growing in popularity as a tourism (and specifically a cruise) destination. It hosts a number of luxury resorts in the 9 bays around the area, while inland there is a famous archaeological site called Bocana del Rio Copalita, which has temples and museums to explore. Mexico’s safety record is not the best and there have been instances of violence and crime that can deem some areas unsafe.

Known as the Pearl of the Pacific, Mazatlan endured some tough times with the drug cartel a few years ago, but now it’s experiencing a second wind as a key tourist destination. These all-inclusive packages are found throughout Mexico’s cruise ports and typically include unlimited food, beverages (including alcoholic beverages), beach chairs and umbrellas, and beach access. Some resorts may also have a swimming pool available whereas others may rent water sport equipment to visitors.

East Caribbean cruise port guides

Most cruises to Mexico visit the country’s Caribbean coastline along the Yucatán Peninsula. When you picture a vacation to Mexico, you’re likely picturing the turquoise water and resort-lined beaches of the Caribbean, and that’s exactly what you can find on a cruise to Mexico’s Caribbean coast. From coffee and salsa to spirits and artisan goods, discover the best things to buy in Mexico cruise ports when you sail with Princess.

Why go on a cruise to Mexico

With over 50 years of experience, we know all the cities and excursions that provide the most authentic Mexico cruise adventures — not just margaritas and mariachis, but more! Visit the best ports in the Mexican Riviera and get a taste of the warm sun, diverse culture and festive flavors of the region. Each itinerary offers something unique, like more time ashore in Cabo or the unparalleled ports of La Paz or Loreto on our 10-day cruises to Mexico.

Stay longer and relax

For those who want to see Mayan ruins, those are also an option for exploring nearby. Cruisers also have the added benefit of having an onboard medical facility and being close to major cities. When in doubt, always purchase travel health insurance for your cruise, which can help cover costs of care and repatriation should the unforeseen happen.

Guests should exercise caution when visiting Acapulco, and we recommend taking an organized excursion through your cruise line. Most cruise ships that visit the southern end of the Baja California Peninsula are heading to Cabo San Lucas, which is just a 30 minutes’ drive from San José del Cabo. However, sometimes very small cruise lines like to dock at San José del Cabo instead. Located in southern Mexico, Huatulco is a growing tourist area that features the charming old town of La Crucecita. Visiting cruise guests can head to nearby Santa Cruz to enjoy the beach, go snorkeling, go deep sea fishing, see waterfalls at Cascadas Magicas, or explore the Bocana del Rio Copalita archaeological site. Another seldom-visited destination for cruise ships, Playa del Carmen has beautiful beaches of its own, but is often a jumping-off point for those who want to head north to busier Cancun.

Sea of Cortez

If you have a particular Mexican port you want to visit, you’ll need to make sure you look for sailings from a port that serves that side of the country. Things to do include hitting the beach; exploring shops, restaurants, and bars near the port area; exploring Old Acapulco; and watching cliff divers at La Quebrada. Campeche is a fortified port city, whose walls were built in the mid-1600s to protect against pirates. This city is great for exploring on foot, and is known for its historic district, military architecture, and baroque colonial buildings.

Established tourism

Considering Cozumel is an island off the Mayan Riviera coast, driving to the cruise port in Cozumel from the mainland isn't possible. Taking the ferry is the most efficient method to get there aside from flying into the Cozumel International Airport (more on that to come); rental cars and motorbikes are also efficient on the island. Mexico’s Caribbean coast is known for having some of the best scuba diving in the world. Anyone interested in exploring the underwater world up close will have plenty of opportunities to do so on a cruise to Mexico. While tasting local cuisine will surely be delightful, there are a few tours offered in Mexico where you can immerse yourself in the country’s culinary traditions.

Leave your expensive accessories and jewelry on the ship, pay attention to your surroundings, and try to stay in more highly trafficked/touristy areas. Like with most countries, there are safer areas than others in Mexico, and certainly some ports are more advisable to visit than others. Check the latest Department of State travel advisories before you book and again right before sailing to help inform your decisions.

Our 10-day cruises are comprehensive, with visits to unique coastal cities like La Paz, where snorkeling with sea lions excites, and Loreto, where a clambake awaits. Enjoy ziplining through Boca de Sierra, kayaking through Paradise Cove in Cabo, riding an ATV through Puerto Vallarta and more on a Mexico cruise. You can see just from the number of cruise lines – Cozumel is an exceptionally popular port. It’s an island off the coast of Mexico that is well known for its excellent scuba diving opportunities and its beautiful scenery. But it’s also one of the most dangerous cruise ports in Mexico due to crime.

Some of these activities include going to the beach, visiting Mayan ruins, boat tours, ATV rides, and shopping. Cozumel is also known as one of the best places in the world for scuba diving, so it’s an ideal spot for those who love to go diving or snorkeling. Costa Maya is another one of the most popular cruise ports in Mexico. Cruisers at this port can go see the nearby Chacchoben Mayan Ruins, hit the beach, or spend the day at the ruins-themed Maya, Lost Mayan Kingdom water park.

The International Cruise Terminal also has a plethora of shops and eateries directly in the port. Across the road (Quintana Roo C-1), the Royal Village Shopping Center offers even more options for both shopping and dining amongst other independent venues. Opposite from this area is the Mayan Plaza where visitors can shop, eat and even take souvenir photos at the Insta-worthy "Cozumel" sign. Taxi service is available 24/7 at the Cancun International Airport, but this must be booked in advance online.

These are the days that you will want to spend relaxing, refreshing and truly enjoying your trip. What that looks like is up to you. While many people will be hitting the deck and enjoying an expensive cocktail poolside, we consider this the perfect opportunity to explore the ship. Cruise ships may have 1-3 main pools which are sure to be full on “sea days,” but you might find a spa pool or Jacuzzi in a part of the ship that’s less crowded. Towards the end of your cruise, you will likely port in cities like Zihuatanejo or Acapulco. Both cities are home to world-class luxury resorts and abundant sea life. Dip your toes in the Pacific, book yourself a cabana and take in the last few days of sunshine from the beautiful white sand beaches.

Onboard Obsession: The Thrill of Go-Karting on the Norwegian Prima

cruise with go karts

This pass costs guests $199 U.S. dollars per person, and allows a guest to race on the Speedway as many times as they wish during its open hours during a cruise sailing. In our personal experience, we found the reservation process to be very easy. We visited the Speedway on the first day of our cruise, at around 5pm, and asked if we could have a reservation on the second-to-last day of the sailing for two people in two separate cars. At the time, the crew members indicated to us that there was plenty of open reservations still available. Something important to know about Norwegian Cruise Line, is that most activities onboard, even the complimentary ones, require a reservation.

Rides Cost $15 Per Person (Unlimited Passes Are Available)

It’s a fantastic amenity that allows you to enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean while staying fit. Just remember to plan your runs accordingly to avoid any potential roadblocks or crowded times. So I thought I would write this article to help you find out which ships have go-karts (since there are not many) and what kind of tracks they have.

While reservations for shows can be made at the Box Office, reservations for the Speedway can be made at the entrance to the Speedway. 40,000 people receive my best cruise tips, insights and guides every week. Leave your bags in the cabin or with someone watching your race. There are no lockers available to store your things when you drive. Wearing helmets is compulsory and everyone is given a clean ski mask to wear beneath the helmet.

Top 10 Royal Caribbean Cabins to Avoid (Save Your Vacation)

This is all the more impressive considering that Norwegian Prima is a significantly smaller ship than the recent vessels Norwegian has built with go-kart tracks. Some elements of the top deck of Norwegian Prima are notably smaller than you'll find on those ships. There's only one waterslide, and the main lounge and pool area has been downsized.

I stayed in a $2,554 studio cabin on NCL Epic, and it was one of the best sailing experiences I ever had

cruise with go karts

I didn’t notice the go-karts were electric and the sounds I was hearing were fake until after my drive. In fact, most indoor karting arenas feature similar prices, although the length of a race may be a little longer. Of course, it will be an extremely awesome and thrilling experience.

Learn About Credit Cards

Due to safety concerns, you need to be dress appropriately to race the cars. As well, you don’t want to wear anything loose or baggy that might catch on the wheels, such as a scarf or an open jacket. Also be sure to leave your bags in the room or with someone watching your race. There are no lockers available to store your bags while you drive. I’ve noticed there are a lot of questions and concerns about go-karts on cruise ships.I will try to answer some of the most frequent questions. Let me know in the comments if you still have any doubts that I can help you with.

If a guest would like to drive slower than some of their fellow racers, all they need to do is move to one side of the track and let other drivers pass by them. The cost to race on the Speedway is $15 per person, for both children and adults. This $15 cost includes approximately 10 minutes of racing on the track. When Norwegian Cruise Line introduced its Breakaway Plus class of ships, it introduced a revolutionary new onboard form of entertainment to the cruise line industry - the Norwegian Speedway. The track is Eighteen decks above the Ocean, and around 166 feet above sea level. The Go Karts can go up to 40 miles per hour, but Norwegian limits speed to 27 mph during group races.

SIMILAR ACTIVITIES

Cars are easy to operate; there's a green pedal underneath the right foot for gas, and a red pedal beneath the left foot for the brake. Drivers are instructed to hold their hands in the 10 and 2 o'clock positions at all times and all turns should be hard turns. The venue features live music, DJ nights, and themed parties, ensuring that guests have a vibrant and lively atmosphere to enjoy throughout their cruise. There are several Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ships that offer a running track for those looking to stay active during their cruise.

Norwegian Cruise Was Not Worth It + Overpriced, Says Frequent Cruiser.

As I experienced Sunday during an eight-lap test run on Prima Speedway, the extra deck devoted to the attraction makes it more thrilling than any of its predecessors on other Norwegian ships. These tracks, as you may have assumed, are the most popular parts of these two ships so they are going to be pretty much always occupied. If you want to save yourself from the long lines, it’s best to have a reservation for a spot the moment you board the cruise. Ten laps around the track on both Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss costs $15. Or you can purchase an unlimited go-karting package for $199 per cruise. As you’d expect on a racetrack on a ship, the course isn’t that long.

With cruise ships trying to more “green” you might be wondering about fuel for the go-karts. They are actually electric and don’t emit exhaust as they zoom around the track. To help add to the ambiance, there are engine noises emitted by the cars to make them sounds like they are real race cars.

For an extra $5, you can have the track to yourself for three laps and drive at faster speeds. At this point in time, you’re able to experience go-karting on the Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Joy. Both of these cruise ships are part of the Norwegian Cruise Line.

The cars can hit speeds of up to 27 miles per hour on the track, making for a rip-roaring experience. Technically, the cars can go even faster — more than 50 miles per hour — but Norwegian has restricted them a bit for safety. The ones on Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva are the largest racing tracks on cruise ships. However, the Speedway dominates a significant area of the top deck, leading to a smaller main pool and lido deck area beneath the track.

Norwegian Viva will offer eight-, nine-, and 10-day trips beginning June 15, 2023. Rates start at $2,099 per person for the ship's first departure, a nine-day trip from Lisbon to Civitavecchia, Italy, near Rome. The newly announced ship will feature many of the same over-the-top amenities found on the previously announced Norwegian Prima, a sister vessel of Viva that sets sail this summer. The height requirements are a minimum of 55 inches (1.40 meters) and a maximum of 82 inches (2.08 meters). The one on Norwegian Viva is also 1,375 feet long (about 420 meters) and has many descents and ascents since it extends over 3 decks.

The Norwegian Prima’s race track is 22 percent larger than the track on the Norwegian Encore, for example. The Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss also have their own race tracks, but neither makes quite the impression the Prima’s does. Perhaps the only bad news about the new go-kart track on Norwegian Prima is that rides aren't as cheap as they used to be on Norwegian's other ships. A few years ago, when there only were go-kart tracks on Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss, a single ride cost $7. With demand sky-high, the line soon raised that fee to $9.95, and with the debut of Norwegian Encore in 2019, the cost shot up to $15 per ride. You are required to wear closed-toe shoes, as well as clothes that are not loose.

In fact, when you first start on the track you’ll be disappointed with the speed out of the gates and climbing the hill. It’s not until all the cars are on the track that the power is turned up and you can really start to drive quickly. As well, if there are any incidents on the track or when it’s time to pit at the end of the race, your speed will be cut.

The go-karts on Norwegian Bliss are also designed to cater to both solo and duo riders. Therefore, this ship is perfect for those who wish to ride with a child. It was not only the second ship with such a feature but the track was also improved and expanded.

THE Cruise Packing Checklist: 85 Items To Bring Printable

caribbean cruise packing list

The weather will be warm year-round, but you'll want some rain gear on hand, especially during hurricane season. Just know that in the tropics, rainstorms are typically short in duration — so don't be dismayed if your weather forecast predicts rain every day of your cruise. Not quite ready to pack, but dreaming of a cruise to the Caribbean? Get inspiration, tips, advice and more with our Caribbean travel articles. A beach read, a journal to scrawl in and a waterproof camera so you remember every sun-washed second. Sunscreen and aloe-vera, a lifesaver in the relentless Caribbean sun.

What to Bring on a Caribbean Cruise

You’ll spend the majority of your time on the ship in casual wear. At first glance, you’d think a Caribbean cruise packing list writes itself – t-shirts, swimsuits, sandals, and you’re ready to go. A pretty bathing suit cover up is a must-have cruise wear for a Caribbean cruise. You may want to bring a couple for both cruise ship and beach days. If you’re taking a 7 day Caribbean Cruise, you’ll need outfits for your sea days on the cruise ship, and other days in port.

Royal Caribbean Blog is your ultimate source for Royal Caribbean coverage.

That’s because the rules for packing are more relaxed than if you are flying for a vacation. The following items may be tempting to bring, but cruise lines either take care of these for you or they aren’t allowed on the ship. But if you are packing for a family, then there are some things that good to bring. Clothing will make up the bulk of what you’ll bring on a cruise, and rightly so. With so many different scenarios to dress for on a cruise, it’s helpful to bring a little bit of everything. I have recently discovered the joys of traveling with my own snorkel and mask.

Formal Wear

Staying hydrated is important on a cruise, and bringing a refillable water bottle can help you avoid the high cost of bottled water onboard. Plus, with a refillable water bottle, you can have water even when you’re not nearby restaurants and other public areas. While onboard the ship, you’ll find yourself frequently needing your cruise card. I tend to skip jewelry on most days (even if I’ve packed it) because either it’s too hot/humid to want to deal with something sticking all over my neck, or I just forget to wear it. You most definitely should have one if you’re going to be spending any prolonged time outdoors. Sometimes, you’re going to need closed-toed water shoes, such as in the case of going on an kayaking tour or ziplining combo tour.

Excursion-Specific Shoes

From what clothes to pack for a cruise, to all the must-have cruise accessories you’ll use for years to come. Keep organized and fit more into your luggage with compression packing cubes. I love traditional packing cubes (above), and found them very helpful on our last cruise. While you’re unlikely to need mosquito or bug spray if you stay near the port or head to a beach, you’ll need it for some shore excursions. If you’re heading into the forest, like going zip-lining or river tubing, bring along insect repellent.

Caribbean Packing List for Eco Travel

If you are taking a Caribbean cruise, you might be wondering what you should pack. From toiletries to outfits, and everything in between, we detail what we pack for our trips in this Complete Caribbean Cruise Packing Guide to help eliminate your pre-cruise stress. Even if you are a veteran cruiser, you might find a few additional items that will be helpful on your next cruise. So if you have a bottle of your favorite shampoo you want to bring or simply have an 8-ounce bottle of sunscreen, go ahead and pack it. There is no need to put it into smaller travel-sized containers. Liquids Are OKAnother way cruise packing is easier is that there aren’t rules regarding liquid sizes.

I’ve been wanting to try this Kopari Sun Shield Body Glow since seeing it on social media because it goes beyond just your typical SPF formula. There is a detailed list of prohibited items on Royal Caribbean's website, and among many are items that heat up, which can cause a fire hazard on the ship. Anything that could interfere with the safe operation of the ship or the safe and secure environment of guests and crew are prohibited.

These Adilette comfort slides offer a contoured footbed for optimal cushioning and fit true to size. The vivid berry, green and orange patterns of these floral themed shoes are a great sand-friendly option. From vibrantly patterned dresses and comfortable walking shoes to functional water-resistant fabrics and sun protectors, here are my 16 must-have items for Caribbean travel. If you’re worried about stepping on animals or coral at the beach, packing a pair of water shoes will ease your mind.

Footwear To Add To Your Caribbean Cruise Packing List

Otherwise, “resort casual” outfits are appropriate for the main dining room. Woman should also pack a cardigan or light jacket as it could be a bit chilly on the ship. After all, you will probably be spending a lot of time in the sun and wouldn’t want to suffer from sunburn. Now more than ever, you will also want to help prevent the spread of germs to avoid getting sick on your vacation, so you can never have enough hand sanitizer. In 2021, you might also want to pack some disinfectant wipes and/or Lysol disinfectant spray to sanitize your cabin and other high traffic touchpoints.

It’s another additional layer of sun protection that is a must. If you have a preferred brand or want to save money, pack it in advance or buy it before getting on the ship. You might question needing a rain jacket or umbrella when you’re off to bask under the Caribbean sun. But tropical destinations are known for their quick, fleeting showers. Rather than retreating to the ship, being prepared lets you embrace every moment, rain or shine. After all, from experience, those showers hardly ever stick around long enough.

This bag is easy to compress because it’s made of a soft cotton material. But my favorite packing hack is to stuff a tote with clothes before putting it into your suitcase to really save space. A good book can help you leave behind the pressures of work and everyday responsibilities. The Magnolia Parks Universe is a series, meaning you can bring multiple books with you depending on the length of your trip.

Choose one that matches your swimwear and is easy to wear, keeping you effortlessly stylish while respecting the cruise’s dress code. Packing for a Caribbean cruise is, in my opinion, so much easier than packing over other travel destinations. It’s a casual vacation in warm client that requires you to pack less of the bulky clothing and more of the lightweight, breezy attire.

While not a true cruise must-have, a Go-Pro is a great way to get amazing video footage on your vacation, on active excursions and in the ocean (it goes underwater). If you’re looking for a new toy and want to create a vacation  video or Vlog, you’ll love the image quality of the new Go Pro 9. Although more common on Alaskan cruises,  it’s actually possible to see marine life during your Caribbean cruise. However, you’ll want to have binoculars handy whether you’re watching from the Lido deck or your balcony.

caribbean cruise packing list

Very important – Cruise lines won’t allow you to bring a regular surge-protected power bar from home and it will be confiscated. It’s very important to have a non-surge protected one that is “cruise approved”. These waterproof vaccine holders on cruise lanyards are practical. If you opt to pack light for your cruise, here are some tips in this post, on how to mix and match your outfits. It’s important to be prepared with all your cruise essentials, including toiletries, medications, cruise accessories and shoes (yes, many people forget their formal night shoes!!).

Waterproof footwear can also be an asset during water activities such as kayaking and tubing. You’ll want to bring at least a couple of pairs of shoes when you travel to the Caribbean. Most importantly, you’ll want to bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes as you will spend a lot of time on your feet walking around the cruise ship and visiting the ports. They enable you to keep a few items handy while you're waiting for your luggage to arrive at your stateroom. Pack a swimsuit, identification, travel documents, medications, and a change of clothes — so you can get started on your vacation right away.

If you plan on exploring any of the rocky beaches in the Caribbean, you’ll need a pair of water shoes to protect your feet. Really, you should always travel with a basic first aid kit regardless of your destination. If you check a bag, be sure to bring a carry-on that has anything in it you might need for the first day. So you’ll want a change of clothes, swimsuit, toiletries, boarding documents, and any valuables.
